Deputy Treasurer Position Opening

Pequaywan Township is seeking applicants for the position of Town Deputy Treasurer. Pay: $20/hour  ; $50/monthly meeting; $15/hour training
Average hours per month: 10-20
Laptop will be provided

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of basic accounting practices, financial management, billing practices, and financial record keeping
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations, maintain accurate and complete records and files, prepare a variety of financial reports, and oversee administration of the town budget
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with officials and public
  • Computer skills including email and background of data entry
  • Must have internet connection

DUTIES:

NOTE: Deputy treasurer will be trained by the town treasurer with the duties listed below. Data entry is a plus but training will be provided if applicant has no background.

  • Responsible for the management of financial transactions (deposits, disbursements, check preparation, monthly credit union account reconciliation, data entry, reports, certificates of deposits)
  • Coordinate with town clerk on financial recordkeeping; cross-checking, and reporting of monthly deposits, claims, balances; annual audits of financial records; and preparation of annual budget reports for annual town meeting
  • Prepare and file state/federal withholding tax payments and reports, quarterly MN Unemployment Report, and all required end reports (e.g. Workers’ Compensation, CTAS financial report to MN state auditor)
  • Prepare and mail out W2s to employees at end of year
  • Other duties as permitted by law
