    Important Information Regarding Assessment and Classification of Property

    This may affect your 2026 property tax payments
    Notice is hereby given that the Board of Appeal and Equalization of the Pequaywan Township shall meet on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Pequaywan Firehall. The purpose of this meeting is to determine whether taxable property in the jurisdiction has been properly valued and classified by the assessor, and also to determine whether corrections need to be made.
    If you believe the value or classification of your property is incorrect, please contact your assessor’s office to discuss your concerns. If you are still not satisfied with the valuation or classification after discussing it with your assessor, you may appear before the local board of appeal and equalization. The board shall review the valuation, classification, or both if necessary, and shall correct it as needed. Generally, an appearance before your local board of appeal and equalization is required by law before an appeal can be taken to your county board of appeal and equalization.

    • At the MAT training last April, Wilson reported that it was mentioned by the trainer that townships must keep a log of all the work done on the township road to protect the township from lawsuits for damage.
    • Introduction of incoming Treasurer Puppy Zeleznikar
    • Discuss two Resolutions:

    (1) Statutory Conflict of Interest

    (2) Establishing a Policy for the Compensation and Reimbursement of Town Officers (in addition, discuss salary increase request proposal by clerk with support from treasurer, deputy clerk and deputy treasurer)

    • Assessment book for the township’s jurisdiction for the upcoming LBAE meeting received from St. Louis County Assessor’s Department
    • Request from Pequaywan Fire Chief Katie Dellenbach asking for a support letter from their governing jurisdiction which is Pequaywan township, that supports and approves of their intent to purchase a turnout gear washer/extractor
    • Invoice from Minnesota Association of Townships for Wilson and Treviranus attendance ($150.00) of the MAT Spring Short Course last April 17, 2026, and Town Manual ($60.00) in the total amount of $210.00
    • Invoice from Daisy Wallace for Dreamhost Annual Renewal ($191.88) and Website Administration ($25.00) for a total of $216.88

    The Public Comment section is a courtesy extended to persons wishing to address the Board. If you wish to comment during the Township Meeting, follow the protocol below. One public comment per citizen which is limited to two minutes. Submit request by the first Saturday of the month to peqclerk@gmail.com with your full name and comment information. The board can either address the issue, assign someone to address the issue, or do nothing. If no show, the requester must contact the clerk before the next meeting if they would like to be added to the Agenda again.
